WISEArchive is a web based archive which records and preserves the working life stories of people in the UK in order to recognise and value the contribution they have made to society. You can keyword search the electronic archives to find stories of the working lives of older people, in a growing catalogue of occupations.
If you are over 50, the story you have to tell about your working life is an important part of our recent history and of interest to many. Perhaps you have just read a contribution which is in the catalogue and would like to add your own experience. We welcome all contributions.
We have contributions from the Milk Marketing Board, Mile Cross in Norwich, retired staff from Jarrolds Store in Norwich, Fakenham in Norfolk and a range of experiences from other older people. We have received Lottery funding for some of our projects.
We thank Red Nose Day Community Cash for funding through the Norfolk Community Foundation which will greatly help us with our work. Thanks go to John Lewis, Norwich, and to Marks & Spencer, Norwich, for their donations. We also thank those who help us with fundraising activities. We've also joined Localgiving so you can donate on-line at http://localgiving.com/charity/wisearchive. You'll find up-to-date news on that page and on our Blog.
The Sheriff of Norwich 2010-2011, Derek James is our Patron. Derek is a well-known local journalist; see http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/. For a biography click here.
